Fate brought us to Port-au-Persil while we were visiting the Province of Quebec, Serge's native province. And there, in a heartbeat, we bought this farm in the heights of Charlevoix. It is set preciously in the center of a spectacular landscape unique by its panoramic view from above on the St-Laurence River.


We then searched for ideas in order to bring this ancient farm to life again. An idea started to emerge when Serge worked at the Equestrian Center of Saint-Laurent du Var (France) where he fell in love with Marius, the only donkey amongst 40 horses. You can guess that soon after this fist crush, we found a place where we went donkey riding. There, Christian the donkey-boy offered us soaps he was making with donkey milk. He allowed us to taste the milk, become more familiar with the breeding of donkeys and to discover the full potential of those animals.


Visiting the « Salon agricole de Paris » many times, we were able to notice the constant development of the world of donkeys and the growing appreciation for products made with donkey milk such as the soaps.


Since 2004, Port-au-Persil has become the witness of this old farm, once forgotten, thriving again and becoming a landmark because of the donkeys and the soap maker’s shop.


We were the firsts in North America to breed donkeys in order to get a production of donkey milk. We are also the suppliers of donkey milk for the product gamut of Shamâne cosmetics.
